Florian Becker

Florian Becker (* 1971 ) is a German law scholar and professor at the Christian Albrechts University in Kiel .

Life

Becker studied law at the University of Bonn from 1990 . There he passed his first state examination in law in 1995. He then worked as a research assistant for Joachim Burmeister at his chair at the University of Cologne . Becker received his doctorate there in 1997. In the same year he obtained the title of Master of Laws at the University of Cambridge , for which this university awarded him the Clive Parry Prize (Overseas) for International Law. After returning to Germany, Becker passed his second state examination in 1999. He then worked as a research assistant for Christoph Engel at the Max Planck Institute for Research on Collective Goods in Bonn. In 2004 Becker completed his habilitation at the University of Bonn and received the Venia legendi for the subjects of constitutional and administrative law, including comparative law and European law.

From 2004 to 2008 Becker was a professor at the Law School of the University of Aberdeen . Since 2008 he has held the chair for public law at the University of Kiel . In 2013 he was involved in founding the Institute for Public Commercial Law. He was also dean of the Kiel Faculty of Law from 2014 to 2016. Becker turned down a call to the University of Münster in 2013.
