Joachim Burmeister (lawyer)

Joachim Burmeister (born October 1, 1939 in Berlin , † September 25, 1999 in Cologne ) was a German lawyer and professor at the University of Saarland and the University of Cologne .

Life

Burmeister studied law at the Free University of Berlin , where he passed his first state examination in law in 1963. He passed his second state examination in 1968. From 1963 he was a research assistant for Klaus Stern in Berlin. He received his doctorate there in 1966. With Stern, he moved in 1966 as a research assistant to the University of Cologne , where he completed his habilitation in 1974 with the unpublished work Protection of Confidence in the Rule of Law .

In 1975 Burmeister held a chair at the University of Bonn . From 1976 to 1993 Burmeister held the chair for general political theory, constitutional and administrative law at Saarland University . He played a major role in the re-establishment of the law faculty of the University of Leipzig from 1991 and took on numerous lectures. In 1993 he moved to the University of Cologne , where he held the chair for general political theory, constitutional and administrative law until his death in 1999. Burmeister was buried on October 5, 1999 in Tuttlingen .
