Life
His debut novel Nosig already dealt with Bergmeier's central theme, the departure from a depressing past into an unencumbered future: Here the first-person narrator quit his pilot job, which was previously perceived as a dream job, when he met Lena, and followed suit with his new girlfriend Scandinavia . Bergmeier's latest novel Where All That Is Not here takes place largely in the Philippines : Here, the first-person narrator's trip to Manila , which he takes to support aid organizations in the fight against child prostitution, turns into a journey through childhood trauma.
