Florian Breuer (born January 30, 1997 in Düren-Lendersdorf ) is a German canoe slalom athlete.

Life

Breuer was born in Düren, but grew up in Nuremberg from the age of 2. There he started in 2004 with the canoe slalom at SG Nürnberg / Fürth. In 2009 his family moved to Augsburg, where the Olympic base and the Olympic course from 1972 are located with the National Competence Center for Canoe Slalom and White Water . Here he started for the Augsburg kayak club. In 2013, Breuer started training as a law enforcement officer in the elite sports support group of the Bavarian Police, which he successfully completed in January 2018.

Breuer has been a member of the German national team since 2012 and won the Junior World Championship in 2014 and the U23 World Championship in 2016 as well as a total of 14 medals at world and European championships.

In 2014 he was nominated Junior Sportsman of the Year by Deutsche Sporthilfe and Young Paddler of the Year by the Worldpaddleaward.

In 2018, Breuer had to interrupt his sporting career for health reasons. Breuer used this time to found various companies and to become entrepreneurial.

Breuer has been active again since 2019 and is again part of the German national team, for which he is represented at World Cups, European Championships and World Championships.
