Florian Jacoby

Florian Jacoby (born May 5, 1971 in Hamburg ) is a German lawyer and professor at Bielefeld University .

Life

Florian Jacoby began studying law at the University of Hamburg in the winter semester 1991/92 , which he completed there in 1996 with the first state examination in law. He then worked on his doctorate, which he completed in 1998 with Reinhard Bork . After his legal clerkship in Hamburg and Washington, DC , he passed his second state examination in 2001. As a result, he worked as a research assistant to Bork at his Hamburg chair. In April 2006 he completed his habilitation there and received the venia legendi for the subjects civil law, civil procedural law as well as commercial and corporate law.

In the summer semester of 2006 Jacoby held a chair at Bielefeld University , and from the following semester he held a W2 professorship there. In the 2008/09 winter semester he turned down an offer from the Ruprecht-Karls-Universität Heidelberg and instead accepted the offer from Bielfeld University for a W3 professorship. Since then he has held the chair for civil law, civil procedure, insolvency and corporate law. From October 2014 to October 2016 he was dean of the law faculty at Bielefeld University.

Jacoby is married and has two children.
