Florian Mitgutsch
Florian Mitgutsch (* 1964 in Munich ) is a German illustrator and communication designer.
Life
Mitgutsch was born as the son of the children's book illustrator Ali Mitgutsch . He started working as an illustrator at an early age. In the 1980s he worked as a graffiti sprayer and became known under the pseudonym "Butler" as one of the first Munich sprayers in the German graffiti scene. Mitgutsch studied communication design from 1987 to 1993 with a focus on illustration at the Darmstadt University of Applied Sciences and the University of Fine Arts in Bratislava', Slovakia. The political circumstances and unrest there, the collapse of communism, the division of the former Czechoslovakia and the extremely creative and lively artist scene that resulted from it offered him a very inspiring environment. This time had a lasting influence on his illustrative work. The topic, people and their emotions, have a permanent place in his work. Since graduating as a communications designer in 1993, Florian Mitgusch has worked as a freelance illustrator for various advertising agencies, magazines and book publishers. In the early 1990s he published the short comic series "Haus" in the comic magazine " Schwermetall ". In 1997 he moved back to Munich with his then wife, where he still lives today with his new partner and two children.
From 2005 to 2013 he illustrated the literature page of the weekend supplement for Donaukurier.
From 2005 he taught as a lecturer for illustration at the private university AMD Akademie Mode & Design in Munich .
