Floribert

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Floribert is a male name .

Origin and meaning

Probably a mixed-language loan formation Latin florus 'blooming, splendid, famous' (cf. Florian ) with German second syllable -bert / -brecht ( beraht , with exactly the same meaning).

The Holy. Floribert is a son of St. Hubertus († 727, bishop of Liege) Floribana of lions , daughter of Count Dagobert, wife of the Holy. Hubert, died giving birth to the son, is mentioned in a Vita of the 15th century , which could explain the name formation from the parents' names (reinterpretation of the High Middle Ages is possible, however). In the case of Floriban , Latin origins would be questionable.
