Florine of Burgundy
Florine of Burgundy (French Fleurine de Bourgogne; * around 1081; † 1097 at Philomelion ) was a French noblewoman who died during the First Crusade .
Florine was a daughter of Duke Odo I of Burgundy and his wife Sibylle of Burgundy. Through her father, she was a member of the royal Capetian dynasty . She was engaged or even married to the Danish Prince Sven (Svend), a son of King Sven Estridsson . Together with her husband, she went on the First Crusade, on which both were killed in Asia Minor. Allegedly, with their contingent of fifteen hundred knights, they were surprised by a superior force of the Seljuks as they crossed Cappadocia . Florine and Sven fought the enemy for a day, even after being hit by seven arrows. But in the end they were killed by overwhelming odds.
Florine's father took part in the crusade of 1101 and died in 1102 in Tarsus .
