Raft (dance)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Floss ( English , German dental floss ) is a dance form in which both arms are swung parallel and alternately to the left and right, with opposite hip movements and clenched fists. After two swings in front of the body, one is made with one arm behind the body. The whole thing is being carried out at great speed. This includes a rigid, straight gaze.

The name comes from the fact that the swift arm and hip swings look like they were made with a huge, invisible piece of dental floss.

Videos of the dance went viral on social media after 15-year-old Russell Horning, known as "the backpack kid", played him a Saturday Night Live performance by Katy Perry on her song in May 2017 Swish Swish performed. Since then, it has become a trend among children and teens and has been featured in videos by celebrities. The float dance has been featured on the Simpsons and on television shows from Universal Kids, Disney XD, and the Disney Channel. Before 2017, the dance step was seen in numerous YouTube videos, the first of which dates from October 2010. In the January 4, 2019 First broadcast edition of the show Klein v United - The incredible duel occurred in a raft Dance Competition Lisa and Lena against six-year-old twin sisters.

Floss was animated as an emote in the video game Fortnite Battle Royale by Epic Games from 2017 . In December 2018, Horning's mother filed a lawsuit against Epic Games for copyright infringement. It led Playground Games to remove the dance emote in the 2018 racing video game Forza Horizon 4 to avoid potential litigation.
