The airport Alexandria Airport ( Arabic مطار الإسكندرية الدولي; IATA code ALY, El Nozha) is the older of the two airports in the city of Alexandria in northern Egypt . It connects directly to the city in the south and thus has good transport links. However, this airport is currently closed. This makes Burg al-ʿArab Airport the only operational airport for Alexandria.

After the opening of Burg al-ʿArab airport, it was not certain whether El Nozha airport could continue to exist. In early 2010, however, the Egyptian Ministry of Civil Aviation announced plans to overhaul the airport as one of two commercial airports for Alexandria and the Nile Delta region.

The airport was closed in December 2011 for this purpose. This renovation was originally supposed to take two years, cost 120 million US dollars and include both an extension of runway 04/22 by 750 m and the construction of a new terminal to replace the old one. In mid-2015, however, the airport was still closed and further construction work was still described as "planned". It serves as the hub of Egypt Air .
