The Izumo Airport ( Jap. 出雲空港 , Izumo-Kuko ) is a small commercial airport in the city of Izumo in Japan . The airport is located about 10 kilometers northeast of Izumo city center on the shores of Lake Shinji . From here there are currently (2009) only domestic connections. A piece of land had to be built up to extend the runway. Izumo Airport is a 3rd class airport under Japanese law .
