The Lae Nadzab Airport ( IATA : LAE , ICAO : AYNZ ) is the regional airport of the city of Lae in Papua New Guinea and is located near the city Nadzab .

Destinations and airlines

In addition to flights to Port Moresby International Airport, there are domestic flights to many other parts of the state. Airlines include Airlines PNG , Air Niugini , Kiunga Aviation , North Coast Aviation and the Mission Aviation Fellowship run by Christian churches .

Old airport

The former airport of Lae was right in the city center by the sea and was abandoned in favor of the current airport due to the lack of expandability (the runway was approx. 1200 meters long and the buildings were very close to the airport). One of the taxiways was expanded into a fairly wide road, the remaining taxiways almost completely demolished, only the majority of the old runway and parts of the old apron remained and have not yet served any new function.
