The Ouagadougou Airport is the largest airport of Burkina Faso , located in the center of the capital Ouagadougou . The airport has one terminal, two gates and can handle 500,000 passengers a year.

General

Ouagadougou Airport has two parallel runways in a north-east-south-west direction. The asphalted main runway 04L / 22R is 3000 meters long and enables landing machines in the south-west to make an ILS approach of the medium category (CAT II). The branch runway 04R / 22L, which is 1900 meters long, is paved with laterite, which is extremely rare for runways . There are several important facilities at the airport, such as a post office, a bank and several restaurants and cafes. A taxi company transports arriving passengers to the capital.

The airport is big enough to accommodate a Boeing 747 . With five parking positions, several aircraft can be handled at the same time. Handling suitable for cargo machines can accept up to 100,000 tons of freight.

Airlines and Destinations

Air France flies daily to Paris, Brussels Airlines weekly to Brussels , Air Burkina twice a week to Paris-Orly (code sharing) and the charter company Point Afrique also to Paris . Air Burkina connects the capital with several African cities. Several other foreign (especially African) airlines fly to the airport (e.g. Royal Air Maroc to Casablanca, Air Algerie to Algiers, Ethiopian Airlines to Addis Ababa, Turkish Airlines to Istanbul, as of January 2013). Ouagadougou is not served directly from German-speaking countries.
