The Christmas Island Airport , in English Christmas Island Airport is an airport on to Australia belonging to Christmas Island .

The airport is the only airport on the island of 2,000 inhabitants and thus forms its most important backbone in international traffic. It is located on the east side of the island, not far from the main town, Flying Fish Cove . Passenger flight operations began on June 6, 1974, and the terminal was established in 1992.

Currently, the airport is only served by Virgin Australia , which serves the Cocos Islands and Perth from there , and there are also occasional charter flights. The operator is the PDL Toll .
