The Yangyang International Airport ( Korean 양양 국제 공항 RR Yangyang Gukje Gongshang , Eng. Yangyang International Airport ) is a small airport in Yangyang , Gangwon in South Korea . The airport is to serve the places Sokcho , Gangneung and Pyeongchang . The construction of the 2,002 completed airport cost about 400 million US dollars .

The airport has no more scheduled flights since 2008. However, flights to China, Japan and Taiwan are occasionally offered. Air Koryo offered charter flights between Hamhung and Yangyang from 2002 to 2006 . However, due to the burgeoning conflict between North and South Korea, these flights were suspended again.

With the award of the 2018 Winter Olympics to Pyeongchang, it is hoped that passengers will again be at the airport. The airline TransAsia Airways has been serving the airport since August 2011 .

In 2011, 5748 passengers used the airport.
