The Flugzeugbau Kiel Fk 166 was a single-seat, single-engine biplane made by Flugzeugbau Kiel GmbH. The Fk 166 was only used as a sport aircraft for a short time .

history

In 1934 Flugzeugbau Kiel GmbH was founded as a so-called shadow factory. To demonstrate its ability to build aircraft, the new factory had to design and build a single-seat training aircraft. The Fk 166 was developed in 1934 under the direction of Hans Erlebnist. Only a prototype of the Fk 166 was built, which had its maiden flight in September 1934. The machine received the civil registration D-ETON and came to the pilot school in Sorau for a short time . Her further fate is unknown.

construction

The Fk 166 was a cantilever (without handles) double-decker with a fixed tail wheel landing gear and an open driver's seat. The horizontal stabilizer was attached high on the fin and braced towards the fuselage. The Fk 166 was a complete wooden construction, the outer skin was made of hot-pressed plywood. Only the stern area and the oars were covered with fabric. Upper and lower wings had ailerons. The wings could be folded back so that the aircraft could be attached to a car.
