Flunk is a band from Norway specializing in electronic music. Flunk especially focus on quieter sounds and their direction can be assigned to the downbeat .

Band history

The band began its formal establishment as a small project between Nygaard and Bakke in Oslo in 2000 and 2001. In the first phase as an instrumental band with sampled occurring singing, they were in the winter of 2001 Releases Beat Service Records for a track on a compilation engaged . After completing this track, the label manager Vidar Hanssen hired them for a complete album.

In spring 2002, the band called themselves Flunk and released their first single , a cover of New Orders Blue Monday , under this name . The song was relatively successful and appeared on numerous compilations in the US and Europe. In April 2002 their debut album For Sleepyheads Only was released and received very good reviews in Norway. With the success of this album, they were invited by the BBC to the radio show The Blue Room on Radio 1 .

In the summer of 2002 several British electronic music magazines became aware of the band, which led to further success. In July there was the first tour, with Flunk also performing at some rock festivals. While the success of the debut album in 2003 was still not waning and sales began in Russia and Greece , Flunk continued to work on their second album, Morning Star . It was completed in March 2004 and first published in Norway in May and throughout Europe from June. Almost a year later, the third album, Play America, soon followed .

In 2007 the next album was released. In May 2009 the album This Is What You Get was released, which contains a cover version of the song Karma Police by Radiohead . In April 2013 Flunk released the album Lost Causes .
