The Fluted Rock (from English fluted , fluted, grooved ' ) is a columnar cliff off the coast of the East Antarctic Enderbyland . The rock towers on the northeast side of Spooner Bay .
Aerial photographs taken in 1956 as part of the Australian National Antarctic Research Expeditions (ANARE) were used to map it. Scientists from another ANARE campaign visited him in February 1961 on the research vessel Thala Dan . They named it descriptively for its furrowed rock, which is particularly visible from the sea.
