Fokke & Sokke ( Dutch : Fokke & Sukke ) is a Dutch cartoon series by John Reid , Bastiaan Geleijnse and Jean-Marc van Tol (draftsman). You use the pseudonym RGvT . The cartoons with the cheeky duck (Fokke) and the canary (Sokke) appear in various daily newspapers.

They only wear clothes on their upper body, but no pants. The authors know each other from their student days. They wrote cabaret texts together and worked on a comic about student life. The first cartoon from the Fokke & Sokke series - Fokke & Sukke hebben geen kerstgedachten - was a Christmas cartoon , at the request of the student newspaper Propria Cures . The name "Sukke" was used for earlier cartoons of the RGvT. The Propria-Cures editorial team rejected the draft on the grounds that birds could not speak. The trio did not give up, however, and designed more cartoons. From 1994, her efforts were rewarded and her cartoons appeared in Propria Cures. The cartoons have been published daily in the NRC Handelsblad since 1999 . The cartoons are also occasionally printed in VPRO Gidsen, J / M Pubers and other magazines.

The cartoons are often related to everyday life and mostly related to the news. For example, the cartoon of August 30, 2007 (see picture, Fokke & Sukke sjoemelen ook wel eens met hun Wiki ) appeared after it was announced the day before that Princess Mabel Wisse Smit had changed her own lemma in the English language Wikipedia to her advantage.

From May 4, 2009 until the website was closed on September 30, 2011, Dnews.de published Fokke & Sokke in German.

In 2003 the RGvT got the Stripschapprijs from Het Stripschap , an organization of comic fans.
