Folkmar of Utrecht
Folkmar of Utrecht (short: Bobbo, Popo, Poppo) († December 11, 990 ) was Bishop of Utrecht from 976 .
His father was the Count Palatine Adalbero of Saxony .
He belonged to the Hildesheim cathedral chapter. There he sent his nephew Bernward to the cathedral school.
In 975 he became Chancellor of Emperor Otto II , who made him bishop in 976. In 977/78 he was entrusted with guarding Heinrich the Quarrel and Egbert the One-Eyed in Utrecht after their unsuccessful attempt at insurrection.
After Otto II's death in December 983, Folkmar released Heinrich and joined him. At the beginning of April 984 he was sent ahead by Heinrich, as his representative, to Werla (Palatinate of the Ottonians , about 15 km from the Asselburg ) to meet with his opponents, the supporters of Otto III. to negotiate.
Before 987 he offered Bernward the abbot in Deventer.
