The Forbes Glacier is a glacier on the Fallières coast of Graham Land on the Antarctic Peninsula . It flows west into the northeast part of Square Bay . The glacier is 16 km long, its width varies between 6 km in the middle section and 3 km at its mouth.
Participants in the British Graham Land Expedition (1934-1937), led by the Australian polar explorer John Rymill , took measurements of the lower section of the glacier in 1936. This was completed over the entire length of the glacier by the Falkland Islands Dependencies Survey (FIDS) between 1946 and 1948. The FIDS named it after the Scottish physicist James David Forbes (1809–1868), a pioneer of glaciology .
