The Forbidden Plateau (English for Forbidden Plateau ) is a long and narrow high plateau not far from the Danco coast of Graham Land on the Antarctic Peninsula . It extends from Charlotte Bay southwest to the Bay of Flanders .
The Falkland Islands Dependencies Survey (FIDS) mapped the plateau using aerial photographs from Hunting Aerosurveys Ltd. from 1956 to 1957. The UK Antarctic Place-Names Committee named it that in 1960 because all attempts to reach the plateau had failed until 1957 when a FIDS team succeeded.
