Foresight Linux was a Linux distribution based on rPath Linux (at that time Specifix Linux ) with the aim of the current - or from the point of view of other distributions - coming Version of the interfaces Gnome , KDE , LXDE and Xfce . As a package management software that came from rPath Linux developed Conary used that in an update downloads a package only changed data to the new package version.

The beginnings of the distribution are hardly documented, Distrowatch has a version 0.6 from March 2005 as the oldest report. Foresight Linux received the 2008 Ovatio Awards from Ars Technica and - together with openSUSE  - was named Distro of the Year .

On May 12, 2015, the developers announced the discontinuation of the distribution.
