Fort Platte Saline was a coastal fort near the village of Castel on the northwest coast of the Channel Island of Alderney .
It was a small defensive structure, more like a battery . Presumably his cannons were aligned in such a way that attackers could be repulsed from both Saline Bay and Crabby Bay .
Today nothing can be seen of the fort, as gravel is being mined here.
