Friedrich von Buxhoeveden (District Administrator)

Baron Friedrich Karl Christoph von Buxhoeveden also Friedrich von Buxhöwden or Friedrich von Buxhövden ( Russian: Фридрих Карл Кристоф фон Буксгевден ; * August 12th July / August 24th  1800 reg. In Arensburg ; † May 1st July / May 13th,  1866 greg . in ibid. ) was a Baltic district administrator .

Life

Friedrich was a member of the noble family von Buxhoeveden . He was a son of the Russian Guard Artillery captain , district court assessor and heir to Rotziküll and Cölljai, Karl Friedrich von Buxhoeveden (1772–1832) and Amalie, née. von der Osten-Sacken (1781–1834).

Career

Buxhoeveden attended grammar school in Arensburg and, as a young man, joined the mounted artillery of the Imperial Russian Army . He switched to the Aleksandria Hussar Regiment in Warsaw , and later to the Guardsman Regiment on horseback. From 1828 to 1829, he fought in the Russo-Turkish War and was awarded in 1830 as a captain his farewell .

Afterwards he devoted himself as a farmer on Ösel to the management of the farms Pajomois and Taggafer (1834 to 1836), Cölljal (since 1840), Zerell with Pödra (since 1842) and Karky (since 1847) as well as on the leased farms Holmhof, Rösarshof, Ackel and Gothland.

In 1834 he was a convent deputy and district judge, and since 1849 district administrator. As such, Romassaar initiated the establishment of the bathing establishment . As the resident district administrator, he was also responsible for the distribution of the farms and campaigned for the construction of village schools. He also used himself for the accommodation of Estonians living on Ösel in the industry on the mainland.

He was co-founder and from 1842 to 1861 co-director of the Society for History and Archeology of the Baltic Sea Provinces of Russia . In 1846 he received the Livonian indigenous community .

family

In 1824 he married Emma von Rubusch from the Kusenöm family (1808–1891). The following children resulted from the marriage.
