Fort Skardu or Fort Karpachu is a fortification over the city of Skardu in Gilgit-Baltistan , which was built between the 8th and 10th centuries AD. The fort was built by the rulers of the Rmakpon Dynasty from Baltistan and was originally a seven- story building until it was burned down by Sikhs in the 18th century .

The mosque on the fort's site probably dates back to the 16th century, the period when northern Pakistan was Islamized .
