The advanced training academy of the Ministry of the Interior of North Rhine-Westphalia is an institution within the portfolio of the Ministry of the Interior of North Rhine-Westphalia . It serves all departments of the state administration, in particular the internal department to carry out the training tasks.

history

The academy was founded at the end of November 1979 by the Minister of the Interior. It started operations in 1981 in Attendorn . The main task was the specialist training of civil servants in general internal administration in special legal topics as well as the introductory training of the next generation of managers. At that time the facility was known as the Attendorn Training Academy (FAA) . With a cabinet decision, the state government of North Rhine-Westphalia decided to move the facility to Herne on April 1, 1994. Initially, the administration was located in the Wanne-Eickel district of Herne and was referred to as the Herne Training Academy (FAH) by the employees of the state administration . The broad area of behavior-oriented seminars developed into the focus of the task. As part of the International Building Exhibition Emscher Park (IBA) , an architecturally outstanding building was built on the former Mont-Cenis colliery site in Herne .
