Forte Centrale

The Forte Centrale (French: Fort Central ) is one of the fortresses on the Colle di Tenda (Tenda Pass) of Cuneo in Piedmont and Ventimiglia on the Mediterranean. It was built in 1880 when the area was part of Italy. At 1908  m slm height, the fortress is only slightly higher than the highest point of the pass road with 1871  m slm In 1947 the municipality of Tenda , and thus the fortress, was ceded to France.
