Fortune is an island of the province of Batangas in the Philippines . It is located off the coast of the island of Luzon , about 14 kilometers west of the municipality of Nasugbu , at the junction of the Isla Verde Strait in the Bay of Manila . The island is privately owned; The Fortune Island Resort Club has been operating there since 1995.

The island of Fortune is best known among scuba divers as there are numerous shipwrecks off its coast. The best known of them is that of the Spanish galleon San Diego , which was sunk on December 12th, 1600 by Dutch pirates. The San Diego's cargo was lifted after almost 400 years; Parts of it are on permanent display in the National Museum of the Philippines in Manila .

Other shipwrecks are that of the MV Kimelody Cristy, which sank in 1995, and that of the Sulpicio Lines' Princess of the Orient, which sank in 1998 .
