Forum 18

Forum 18 is a Christian Norwegian human rights organization in Oslo , which, on the basis of Article 18 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, aims to establish religious freedom for all. The board consists of representatives from the following organizations:

  • Dansk Missionsråd (Denmark)
  • Ljus i Öster (Sweden)
  • The norske Helsingforskomité
  • Stefanusalliansen (Norway)

The news service Forum 18 News Service set up by the non-profit organization is a Christian Internet and e-mail initiative that reports on threats and actions against the religious freedom of all people, regardless of their religious affiliation. The intelligence service primarily focuses on the successor states of the Soviet Union , including Belarus and Central Asia, as well as Eastern Europe, but it has also released reports on Kosovo , Serbia , Turkey , Burma , China (including Xinjiang ), Laos , Mongolia , North Korea and Vietnam .

The news service is published in two editions: a weekly summary is published every Friday; and there is also a daily issue most days of the week. The organization's website also contains surveys of religious freedom in various countries and regions, as well as personal comments on religious issues.

The reports from Forum 18 are mainly cited as sources in English-language media such as Radio Free Europe or the English-language Internet magazine Transition online, but also in the European Parliament on questions of religious freedom.

In the German-speaking area, the reports of Forum 18 are primarily used as a source by human rights organizations such as the International Society for Human Rights or Amnesty International .
