Photo overpainting

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Fotoübermalung is a visual art, will be revised in a photograph with painterly means. In contrast to the coloring of photography, in which painting is subordinate to photography, both media retain their independence in overpainting the photo. The painting enters into a visual dialogue with the photography, can also contrast and cover it up. Examples of artists who work with photo overpainting are Rebecca Horn , Horst Janssen , Rosa Lachenmeier , Josef H. Neumann , Arnulf Rainer , Gerhard Richter .
