Foundation for the Preservation of the Mahayana Tradition

The Foundation for the Preservation of the Mahayana Tradition (FPMT) is a network of Buddhist centers of the Gelug tradition of Tibetan Buddhism . It was founded in 1975 by Lama Thubten Yeshe (1935–1984) and Thubten Zopa Rinpoche (* 1946) in Kathmandu .

The FPMT includes around 150 Buddhist centers, projects and social institutions in 33 countries, as well as the Wisdom Publications publishing house . Since 2006 the main center of the FPMT has been in Portland (Oregon) .
