4 Nations Cup
The 4 Nations Cup (until 1999 3 Nations Cup ) is a women's ice hockey tournament that has been held annually since 1996 and is played between the national teams of Canada , the United States , Sweden and Finland . The tournament takes place every November.
history
The tournament first took place in 1996 with three teams - Canada, USA, Finland. Sweden were added as the fourth team in 2000. The US did not participate in 2001 due to the September 11th terrorist attacks . The tournament has been played with four teams without interruption since 2002. The record winner is Canada with 14 triumphs.
mode
The four teams initially play in a single round in the mode everyone-against-everyone. The first two teams then play for gold, while the two remaining teams play for bronze. With only three teams participating, the third-placed automatically received bronze.
