The Fowler Ice Rise is a very large ice dome in the west Antarctic Ellsworthland . It rises between the Evans Ice Current and Carlson Inlet in the southwestern section of the Filchner-Ronne Ice Shelf . Apart from the Hague Nunatak cores in the northwestern part, the formation is completely covered by ice.
The United States Geological Survey mapped it using Landsat surveys from 1973 to 1974. The Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names named it after Captain Alfred N. Fowler of the United States Navy , commander of the US Navy support units in Antarctica from 1972 to 1974 .
