Idiocerus lituratus , also known as gray willow Winkerzikade known, a leafhopper from the subfamily of the Winker cicadas (Idiocerinae).
features
The cicadas are 5.5–6.5 mm long. The brownish-black-white patterned cicada has a light field of vision. The scutellum has three larger black triangles at the base. A dark band runs across the forewings. This is lined with two narrow, light-colored cross bars, which have white wing veins .
Occurrence
The species is represented in large parts of Europe. The species is widespread in the British Isles.
Way of life
Idiocerus lituratus can be found on various willows ( Salix ), in particular on creeping willow ( Salix repens ) and broken willow ( Salix fragilis ). The cicadas suckle on the leaves and stems of these trees. The adults of a generation usually fly from July to November.
