Foz do Douro ( Portuguese "mouth of the Douro ") is a place and a former municipality ( Freguesia ) of the northern Portuguese city ​​of Porto .

Location of the municipality in the district before the 2013 territorial reform

The community had 11,105 inhabitants (as of June 30, 2011).

Foz do Douro takes its name from the mouth of the Douro into the Atlantic Ocean , where the Felgueiras lighthouse is located.

On September 29, 2013, the municipalities of Foz do Douro, Nevogilde and Aldoar were merged to form the new municipality of União das Freguesias de Aldoar, Foz do Douro e Nevogilde .
