Franconian working group

The Franconian Working Group e. V. ( FAG ) is a Franconian alliance of cities, districts, municipalities, clubs, associations and individuals that has been looking after the interests of Franconia since 1948.

Nürnberger Nachrichten , Wednesday, February 25, 1948

On February 25, 1948, the Nürnberger Nachrichten called for the founding of a “Working Group to Preserve the Rights of Franconia”. The decision on the establishment was made in March 1948, the entry in the register of associations at the Nuremberg District Court in October of the same year. After the foundation, the FAG made the first public appeal “To the population of Franconia” and in March 1949 the first public event.

The first program from 1950 included the topics “Against a further neglect of Franconia's state paths”, “Consideration of the Franconian tribal peculiarity”, “Expansion of Franconian universities”, “Rejection of any one-sided separatism” and “Confession to Bavaria in Germany”.

Day of the Franks

The day of the franc is celebrated each July 2, since of 2006. The former 1st chairman of the FAG, Helmut Ritzer , and the 3rd chairman Manfred Scholz , together with the then Bavarian Minister of the Interior Günther Beckstein , obtained a resolution by the state parliament in 2006 to celebrate July 2nd or the following Sunday as Franconian Day .
