Events

Pageants

Traditionally, a pageant takes place on Saturday and Sunday of the festival weekend, starting at 10:30 a.m. The move is organized every year by the farmers, the schools and the trade association. The design of the pageant in 2019 will be done by the students, in 2020 the trade association and in 2021 the farmers would have been responsible.

The motto of the pageants is redefined every three years. The students tend to show contributions to the medieval city history, while the trade association prefers to show today's topics in the context of the goods and services of its members. The move organized by the farmers, on the other hand, focuses more on rural life, in particular its changes in the past century.

Draisine racing

Before the pageant on Sunday, there will be a race on a circuit in the city with replica draisines , in which the winner can win a trophy, among other things. Many members of cycling clubs take part in the race.

Amusement park & exhibitions

A large amusement park with approx. 85 shops (including a Ferris wheel , chain carousel and other smaller and changing large rides ) is operated on the festival weekend . After the Cannstatter Wasen , the Franconian Volksfest amusement park is the second largest temporary one in Baden-Württemberg. Three beer tents (two large ones - the longer one, in which beer from the Crailsheim private brewery Engel is served, even encloses a tree - and a smaller one) will be erected on the fairground. Connected to the amusement park are a commercial exhibition and a grocer's market with around 120 people.

Cattle awards

Previously every year, for a few years only in the years in which the farmers organize the pageant, awards for cows, horses and small cattle take place.

Changed shop closing times

The shops in Crailsheim have been open on the Sunday after the pageant, and not just since the change in shop closing legislation . However, almost all shops, as well as city administration, kindergartens and schools, are closed on the following Monday. Only a few supermarkets are open this Monday, but only in the morning.
