Frailea pumila is a species of plant in the genus Frailea from the cactus family(Cactaceae).
description
Frailea pumila usually sprouts with spherical, deep green, reddish bodies that have a depressed apex and forms groups. The bodies reach a diameter of 2 to 5 centimeters. The 13 to 20 ribs are divided into cusps over time. The yellowish brown, very finely downy, 1 to 5 millimeter long spines can only be differentiated into central and radial spines with difficulty. The 1 to 3 central spines are protruding, the 9 to 14 bristle marginal spines lie on the surface of the body.
The yellow flowers are up to 2 inches long. The fruits are green.
Distribution, systematics and endangerment
Frailea pumila is common in the south of Brazil , Uruguay , Paraguay and in the north of Argentina . The first description as Echinocactus pumilus was published in 1838 by Charles Lemaire . Nathaniel Lord Britton and Joseph Nelson Rose placed them in the genus Frailea in 1922 .

- Frailea pumila subsp. deminuta
In the Red List of Threatened Species of the IUCN , the species is listed as " Least Concern (LC) ". H. listed as not endangered.
