François-Étienne Blanchet
François-Étienne Blanchet I (* 1695 in Paris ; † April 1761 ibid) was a harpsichord maker in Paris.
biography
François-Étienne Blanchet is the best-known member of a family of instrument makers who had a decisive influence on French harpsichord making in the 18th century . His father Nicholas Blanchet (* 1660 ) immigrated from Reims to Paris, where he began building harpsichords and spinets . François-Étienne, who fully joined the family business in 1722, developed it to the highest degree. In his workshop on Rue de la Verriere, in addition to new instruments, Flemish harpsichords from the Ruckers family were rebuilt according to contemporary tastes and expanded to a range of 5 octaves.
François Étienne Blanchet II (* approx. 1750 ; † 1766 ) was the son of François-Étienne I and also a harpsichord maker in Paris. Pascal-Joseph Taskin married the widow after his death.
Blanchet's harpsichords are used today as a template for historical replicas.
