François Serpent (2000)

François Serpent (real name Indrek Mesikepp ; born October 17, 1971 in Tartu ) is an Estonian poet . His second stage name is fs .

François Serpent graduated in 1999 with a degree in art history at the University of Tartu from. He is currently the editor of the Estonian literary magazine Looming . In 2004 he was a laureate of the state foundation Eesti Kultuurkapital .

The focus of his work is poetry, short stories and literary criticism. His works are characterized by a black surrealism with an often morbid and violent undertone. François Serpent is one of the most promising young talents on the Estonian literary scene.

A selection of his works have so far been translated into English, Finnish, Latvian, Polish, Russian and Swedish.
