François Philippus Lodewyk Steyn (born May 14, 1987 in Aliwal North ) is a South African rugby union player who has played in the outside three quarters and goalkeeper positions for the South African national team and the French club Racing Métro 92 . He became the youngest player to be world champion at the 2007 World Cup. He won his second title at the 2019 Rugby Union World Cup .
Career
Steyn first played for South Africa in 2006. He made his first attempt on his debut against Ireland . He was nominated for the World Cup the following year, was used in all games of the tournament and among other things contributed three points to the final victory over England .
In 2009 Steyn played with South Africa against the British and Irish Lions . The Springboks won the series 2-1 and also secured the third title at the Tri Nations in the same year.
Steyn played in the South African championship Currie Cup for the province of Natal and in the international championship Super 14 for the Sharks . At the beginning of the 2009/10 season he left South Africa and moved to France for the newly promoted Racing Métro 92 .
