Franc Smolej (born October 15, 1908 in Jesenice , † unknown) was a Yugoslav cross-country skier .
At the 1936 Winter Olympics in Garmisch-Partenkirchen, Smolej took 25th place over 18 km, and over 50 km and tenth place with the relay. The following year he was sixth over 50 km at the Nordic World Ski Championships in Chamonix . At the Nordic World Ski Championships in Lahti in 1938 , he achieved 64th place over 18 km and 30th place over 50 km. When he last participated in the Olympics in 1948 in St. Moritz , he ran in 15th place over 50 km.
