Frances Morris

Frances Morris (born in London in 1959 ) is the director of Tate Modern London . She is the successor to Chris Dercon and is the first woman to run this art institution.

Live and act

Frances Morris studied art history at the University of Cambridge (BA) and the Courtauld Institute of Art . Her master's thesis dealt with the French painter Jean Hélion .

After working at the Arnolfini Gallery in Bristol , she became a modern art curator at the Tate Gallery in 1987 . When Tate Modern opened in 2000, she was appointed Head of Displays and, in 2006, director of the International Art Collection. In January 2016, she was appointed director of Tate Modern.
