Francesco Albotto , also Francesco Albotti , François Albotto or François Albotti , (* probably around 1723; † January 13, 1758 in Venice ) was an Italian painter and engraver.

Little is known about Francesco Albotto. Its origin is in the dark. He was probably first a student and later also an assistant to Michele Marieschi . After Albotto died, he took over the workshop and married his teacher's widow. Throughout his life he remained attached to Marieschi's art and painted vedutas and landscapes in his manner. He was therefore referred to by Mariette as the "second Marieschi". His works are so close to those of his teacher that they have long been considered his works. It was not until 1972 that a work signed “Francesco Albotto F. in S. Luca Cale di ca Loredan” appeared in the New York art trade and provided a basis for identifying further works. It turned out that Albotto tended to be more repetitive, mostly resorted to Marieschi's prefabricated formal language and brought little of his own to his works. Albotto was mainly active in Venice. Compared to those of his Venetian contemporaries, his oeuvre is rather small, although newly discovered images keep popping up today.
