Francesco Bassano the Younger (born January 7, 1549 in Bassano del Grappa , † July 3, 1592 in Venice ; actually Francesco Giambattista da Ponte ) was an Italian painter.

The eldest son, pupil and employee of Jacopo Bassano worked at the beginning of his career on pictures of his father, especially on the production of large altar panels. His first independent work, a quail wonder , can be dated around 1566. Similar to Flemish art, he also made use of rural motifs, which often achieved a sparkling color. In the natural rendering of animals, he was very similar to his father's painting style, which often led to confusion. He had been in Venice since 1580 and continued the Venetian branch of the Bassano workshop until he committed suicide a few months after his father's death. Then his brother Leandro took over the workshop.
