Francesco de 'Pazzi

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Francesco de 'Pazzi (* 1444 ; † April 26, 1478 in Florence ) was a nobleman from the Pazzi family . He was involved in the failed Pazzi conspiracy against Lorenzo il Magnifico in Florence and was subsequently killed and hanged in the Palazzo della Signoria .

Pazzi family

The Pazzi were a wealthy aristocratic family who had a great influence on the Bank of Florence. Francesco de 'Pazzi allegedly couldn't stand the Medici overtaking the family and getting richer.

reception

In 1862 the writer Eduard Mohr published a “Tragedy in five acts” entitled Francesco dei Pazzi .

Francesco de 'Pazzi is one of the "assassination targets" of the main character Ezio Auditore da Firenze in the computer game Assassin's Creed II and is vaguely based on the historical person.

In the film Hannibal (2001), the sequel to Das Schweigen der Lämmer (1991), the eponymous character Hannibal Lecter murders a descendant of the Pazzi family (a police officer by the name of Commendatore Rinaldo Pazzi, who lives with his wife Allegra Pazzi in current Florence ) and refers to the historical background. He hangs his victim on the same principle and in the same place.
