Francisca Josefa del Castillo y Guevara (born October 6, 1671 in Tunja , New Kingdom of Granada , † 1742 ibid) was a Spanish nun, mystic and author. She is the first known writer in Colombian literature .

She grew up in a wealthy aristocratic family and, against her family's wishes, entered the Poor Clare monastery in her hometown in 1689 . She spends her time in her cell reading religious scriptures and reporting on dreams and visions. From around 1690, on the instructions of her confessor, she wrote down her spiritual experiences and reflections on the Bible in her Sentimentos Espirituales . From 1716 she wrote the autobiographical Vida de la VM Francisca Josefa de la Concepción . Visions reveal to her that God speaks through her scriptures. Both works will only be published after her death.
