Francisco Defilippis Novoa (born February 21, 1889 in Paraná , Entre Ríos Province , † December 27, 1930 in Buenos Aires ) was an Argentine writer.

life and work

Before Defilippis Novoa went to Buenos Aires in 1917, he worked for some time as a journalist in Rosario . In Buenos Aires he mainly wrote plays and was soon one of the most important playwrights in Argentina, along with Armando Discépolo , Samuel Eichelbaum , E. García Velloso and R. González Pacheco .

In his first time in the capital he also worked as a director. Hugo Wast's “Flor de durazno” (1917) and Florencio Sanchez 's “Blanco y Negro” (1919) were staged under his direction .

In 1922, Defilippis Novoa helped to establish an author syndicate to strengthen the rights of authors vis-à-vis publishers and theaters . When General José Félix Uriburu came to power in the fall of 1930, this association of writers was banned again.

His relationship with the actress Gloria Ferrandiz (1893-1970) was also reflected in his publications. Strong female characters shone in the pieces that were written during this period; Roles that he had written for Ferrandiz.

Defilippis Novoa died on December 27, 1930 at the age of 41 in Buenos Aires, where he found his final resting place.
