Francisco Javier Álvarez Uría (born February 1, 1950 in Gijón ) is a former Spanish football player .

Player career

Uría began his career at Real Oviedo in 1966 at the age of 16 . After good games in Dress the Asturians , he moved in 1974 in the capital to Real Madrid . In three years with Los Blancos, the defender was able to win two Spanish championships and a Spanish cup. In 1977 Uría moved to Sporting Gijón in his hometown of Gijón , where he stayed until 1983, but was unable to win a title. From 1983 to 1984 the Spaniard let his career end with his regular club Real Oviedo.

Internationally, Uría played 14 times for the Spanish selection. He took part in the Football World Cup in Argentina in 1978 ; at this World Cup, the Spaniards were eliminated in the first group stage as third. The defender also took part in the 1980 European Football Championship in Italy , where the Spaniards were eliminated in the preliminary round, this time as the bottom of the group.
